ePACT!T is Fully Equipped with Legal Electronic Signatures
The adoption of the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) in most states and the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN) at the federal level in 2000 established the legality of electronic records and signatures. Additionally, Federal legislation enacted in 2000, known as the Electronic Signatures in Global and International Commerce Act (ESGICA), further removed uncertainties surrounding e-contracts, confirming that electronic signatures and contracts are as valid and enforceable as traditional paper documents. Thus electronic contracts and electronic signatures became just as legal and enforceable as traditional paper contracts signed in ink.
Legal Validity of Electronic Signatures
Both ESIGN and UETA affirm that electronic signatures and records hold the same legal weight as their paper counterparts. According to these laws, electronic documents and signatures cannot be denied legal effect or enforceability solely because they are in digital form.
ePACT!T Compliance and Security
ePACT!T is designed to comply with ESIGN, UETA, and relevant FFIEC guidelines, ensuring that electronic transactions are handled securely and legally. Each user creates a Digital Signature during account setup, which is securely stored in an encrypted format. These signatures are validated every time a user logs in and signs a document, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.
